A petition seeking the quashing of a case registered against the youngest wife of al Qaeda founder Osama Bin Laden and for release of her five children was filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday.
Chief Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur Rehman will take up the petition filed by Zakarya Ahmad Abd Al-Fattah, brother of Osama’s widow Amal Abdulfattah, through his lawyer Muhammad Amir Khalil. The petitioner cited the interior secretary, DG Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and state as respondents. It has been stated in the application that Amal Abdulfattah along with her five children were arrested by the ISI without registration of any case against them and later handed over to the Interior Ministry.
He said that after the intervention of the Yemeni embassy, eight meetings were held between him and his sister. He said that authorities have kept his sister in illegal custody, adding that the registration of unjust case against his sister was a violation of human rights and the constitution. The petitioner, through his counsel, contended that Osama’s widow and her children were not produced before any court and had been remanded for nine days. The petitioner has pleaded with the court to allow him to meet his sister and to quash the case against her.
