The Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) has issued cheques of monthly stipends to living writers and bereaved families of deceased writers all over the country.
The stipends were paid on the instructions of Federal National Heritage and Integration Minister Samina Khalid Ghurki.
This was stated in a press release issued by the PAL here on Tuesday. It said the payment of monthly stipend to writers remained suspended for four months due to unavailability of funds.
The federal minister directed the PAL management to ensure timely release of stipends in future.
