Dhok Najoo residents have complained against the failure of the departments concerned in replacing the live electricity wires.
“The electricity cables laid in the area are naked and live. They stretch along the walls of the houses. During the rainy season we face a huge risk to our lives due to these wires. Electricity currents usually finds their way into our buildings and force us to leave our homes,” said a local.
“My house is enveloped with these wires. We are forced to relocate during the rainy season, as electric currents flow into our house,” said Jalees Ahmad, a retailer. Several fatal incidents have occurred as a result. Usually, women get electrocuted when they go to hang their laundry on their rooftops.
The residents of the area threatened to come out on the streets against the departments concerned if the wires were not replaced.
This is common in this country.
