“The Government College University Lahore Endowment Fund Trust (GCU ETF) is giving away scholarships of Rs 5 million to more than 150 talented deserving students of the university who cannot afford the academic expenses.” said GCU EFT Executive Committee Secretary Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt while addressing the Endowment Fund Scholarship Distribution Ceremony on Tuesday which was chaired by GCU Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Khalid Pervaiz. SARAC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice President Ifthikhar Ali Malik was chief guest of the ceremony while the donors of the GCU EFT were also present. Addressing the ceremony, Khalid said that the scholarships had been given purely on merit after the interview of candidates by the GCU Financial Aid Committee which comprise of five head of departments. He said that all documents of applicants from income certificates to utility bills are examined in detail, so that only truly deserving students shall get the scholarships. Later, the EFT took an undertaking from all the scholarship-holders that after starting their careers, would return the scholarships to the EFT, so that other students can draw benefits from it.
