At least nine people, including a girl and two women, have been killed and several others injured when an avalanche struck in the northern area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral and Ghazar areas, police said Tuesday. According to police, four people were killed and two others inured in Tehsil Yasin of Ghazzar due to heavy snow fall. Elsewhere at least five people were buried under the snow when a large block of ice hit their house in Gram Chasmma of Chitral. Three bodies were retrieved from the snow.
According to Met Office, dusty winds might continue to blow on Tuesday The dust storm hit Karachi, Hyderabad, Jaccobbabad, Shikarpur, Dadu, Lower Dir, Tank, Hub, Kharan, Quetta and other parts of the country. The Met office said that this was not an unusual phenomenon, but that such dusty environment was usually experienced during mid-April. Owing to poor visibility, the schedule of traffic at the Karachi Airport was also partially affected, with many flights cancelled or delayed.
