10 criminals arrested, arms recovered in Karachi

The city police during separate raids and search operations in different areas of arrested 10 criminals including robbers and four accused of gang-war extortion mafia and recovered arms from their possession.
According to SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam, the police upon secret reports of presence of criminals and extortionists launched search operation in different localities of city including Lyari, Daryaabad and Kamela.
The CID police arrested four criminals during a search operation conducted in Lyari, Nayaabad, Daryaabad and Kamela Stop areas.
The police approached two robbers busy in looting citizens at gun point in Quaid-e-Azam Colony are of Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The dacoits on seeing police
party started firing and tried to flee. The police approached them at Shaheen Heights area near Maskan Chorangi and arrested them after fire
exchange. Arms and looted valuables were recovered from the nabbed robbers.
Unknown miscreants stole the car of police inspector Muhammad Riaz parked outside a mosque at Burns Road and later set ablaze the vehicle. Files of important cases were burnt in the incident.
The police continued raids at many gambling dens and took action against drug sellers but no arrest has been made.
Meanwhile at least five shops and godowns of cotton located in Block 14 of Gulshan-e-Iqbal were burnt to ashes due to fire caused by gas leakage. Three fire brigade engines reached the site of fire and extinguished it but meantime cotton bales stored in godowns were gutted completely.
