Zardari lauds parliament’s performance

President Asif Ali Zardari said on Tuesday that the services rendered by the sitting parliament would be remembered for restoring 1973 Constitution in its original form.
He was talking to former Senate chairman Farooq H Naek, who paid farewell call to President Asif Ali Zardari at the presidency on Tuesday.
The president lauded his services as Senate chairman and appreciated his role in not only ensuring smooth running of the legislative business but also for his valuable contributions in passing of the important legislations during his tenure.
The president said his tenure as Senate chairman would be remembered forever as he not only kept his impartiality to run the house but also during his tenure the Parliament restored the 1973 Constitution into its original form, bringing about 19th and 20th constitutional amendments and the passage of women related and other important legislations.
Farooq H Naek thanked the president, Parliament, PPP and the government for reposing confidence in him by nominating him first as Senate chairman and later by supporting him in discharging his duties.
Naek said that he would continue to serve the party with the same devotion and commitment now as Senator and a professional lawyer.
