Two employees of a five-star hotel, apparently died of suffocation in the hotel on Monday, police said. The police said the workers suffocated due to a gas leakage. According to details, the two workers had gone to sleep in a hotel storeroom, late Sunday night, after igniting a gas heater. The police said the heater went off during the night, due to low gas pressure, resulting in gas leakage. The deceased were identified as Raja Yasir, aged 25 and Tahir Naqash, 36. On Monday morning the hotel staff broke down the storeroom door when they did not get a response from within the room.
Astonishingly, the hotel management did not inform the police about the incident and shifted the victims to the Poly Clinic Hospital where the doctors pronounced them dead. A senior police official said the police will consider all possibilities while investigating the incident. He added that the police was waiting for the autopsy report. “The workers apparently died of suffocation. However, it is not clear why they had put on the heater, despite the warm weather. Muhammad Ashfaq, the father of one of the victims, lodged an application with the Police Secretariat against the criminal negligence of the hotel management.
There are so many resources and amenities that hotels can add to any event that someone chooses to not have in their homes but in a comfortable indoor space where the lighting, microphones, seating, tables, catering, restrooms, ample amount of space and bedding, if needed, are all provided for any event.
