Taken from Lahore, found in Balochistan

A 17-year-old girl who was kidnapped from Lahore was recovered from Rakhni area of Balochistan. Police sources said a gang involved in kidnapping and selling women abducted a 17-year-old girl from Lahore on gunpoint and brought her to Rakhni area of Balochistan and kept her in a house in Rakhni for one and half month. The local Levies Force, after getting a tip-off, conducted a raid and arrested four kidnappers including gang leader Asif alias Lakho and recovered the kidnapped girl. Later, the kidnappers were handed over to police station Gadai for further interrogation. More probes into the matter were in progress.
Official sources in the local Levies Force told reporters that several gangs from Sindh and Balochistan kidnap women from Data Darbar shrine of Lahore and other parts of Punjab and later sell them out to local people in far flung areas of their provinces. “They trap girls who leave their homes due to domestic dispute with their family members and visit shrines or other places,” they said. They underlined the need to raise awareness among tribal leaders to keep vigil on such gangs besides discouraging their criminal activities. They also emphasised the need to make maximum number of shelter homes for women and inclusion of adequate number of women in police which could guide and provide shelter to women who leave their homes due to domestic disputes or after being tortured at the hands of their husbands.
