Eight dead in Miranshah clashes

At least eight people, including a soldier, have been reportedly killed in clashes between the Pakistan Army and militants in North Waziristan Agency. Residents in Miranshah, where clashes took place, said the two sides were exchanging gunfire until Monday morning. Security officials said four militants and one soldier were killed in the clash after militants attacked the army’s Ameen outpost late on Sunday in Miranshah. The authorities said that the forces retaliated early on Monday by targeting suspected militant safe houses and three civilians were reportedly killed and others wounded in the bombing.
The security forces accelerated the crackdown on the terrorist hideouts on Monday and blew up five buildings occupied by militants located in Miranshah Bazaar. Also, an indefinite curfew had been imposed in the area and military operation against militants was underway. Meanwhile, as many four terrorist were killed in a bomb blast in Tirah valley on Monday. According to details, the killed terrorists were members of banned outfit Lashkar-e-Islam while two others were wounded in the incident. They were killed while planting an explosives device along a roadside in Tirah.
