About 30 lawyers of Renala Khurd Tehsil, district Okara gathered in front of courtroom of Lahore High Court Chief Justice Azmat Saeed on Monday and protested against the Okara district and session judge (D&SJ).
The lawyers were protesting against D&SJ for his decision to shift criminal case of police station Chochak town from Tehsil courts Rehnala Khurd to district courts Okara. Police and LHC security staff remained alert to avoid any untoward situation during the lawyers protest in front of the CJ courtroom.
The protesting lawyers said D&SJ had created difficulties for their legal practice as well as their clients and demanded that the decision be withdrawn in view of their difficulties. The lawyers, who were holding placards inscribed with complaints against the D&SJ Okara, chanted slogans outside the court and were then summoned by the CJ. They said instead it was injustice to shift the courts and travelling would take up most of their day. The chief justice assured the lawyers that he would consider their grievances sympathetically and pass necessary instructions to the D&SJ Okara to make permanent courts at Chochak town. On being satisfied by the CJ’s words the lawyers went back peacefully.
