Senior Civil Judge Shahrukh Anjumand on Monday directed Osama Bin Laden’s brother-in-law’s counsel to submit a legal justification in court as to why his client wants access to his sister. Hearing the petition filed by Yemeni national Zakarayah Ahmed Abdulfattah, brother of the terrorist kingpin’s youngest wife Amal Abdulfattah, the court adjourned the case’s hearing until March 26. The court also observed that the superintendent of Adiala Jail, despite court orders on March 17, did not submit the details of personal meetings and telephonic contacts of Bin Laden’s family during the period of their judicial custody.
The petitioner said that after the May 2 incident, ISI took Bin Laden’s family, including his nine minor children, into custody and kept them in different secret places. ISI then handed over them over to the FIA SIU. According to the petition, Zakarayah in October 2011 contacted Pakistani authorities through officials of the Yemeni Embassy in Pakistan for repatriation of his detained sister. Pakistani authorities assured him of handing over of his sister on November 2, 2011 but when he arrived in Pakistan they did not release Amal and he had no option but to wait for her release. The petitioner said that during this period the authorities had arranged eight meetings with his sister at different places.
