Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said Monday that ISI is an important arm of the Security Establishment assigned to safeguard the national interests in consonance with the aspirations of the people of Pakistan.
He was talking to Lt. Gen Zaheer –Ul- Islam, DG ISI, who called on him after assuming his responsibilities as new DG.
The DG ISI thanked him for reposing confidence in him for undertaking responsibilities pertaining to the National Security, the PM office said.
The Prime Minister extended his best wishes to the new DG ISI and expressed his confidence that the institution would serve the national interest in the best manner under his leadership.
