Former Indus Water commissioner Syed Jamaat Ali Shah has blamed former president Pervez Musharraf for weakening the Pakistani case about Baghliar Dam being built by India in occupied Kashmir.
In an interview here on Sunday, Jamaat Ali Shah warned that if any one tried to blame him on the issue in the future, he would go to the court for a defamation case. He said he was not duty bound to respond to everyone but pointed out that officers appointed during Musharraf regime on recommendations were responsible for the construction of dams by India.
He challenged his critics to come up with proof if they have any against him, saying he was never afraid of facing any eventuality. He said he aws back in Pakistan and would appear before any forum including courts if summoned in the case. In reply to a question, Shah said whatever the Indus Water Commission did was the result of team work and he alone cannot be held responsible. He said record of the meetings with India was a proof how they negotiated over the issues. He said article 32 of the Indus Water Treaty provides that India can use the water of Pakistani rivers in times of need. He said India was irrigating 14 lakh acres of land and could generate electricity as well.

  1. Stop blaming Musharraf for all the wrong doings and you should have courage then to say that or resign from your post

  2. They blame Musharraf for everything. Absolutely pathetic.

The Indus River is a major river in Asia which flows through Pakistan. It also has courses through western Tibet and Northern India. Originating in the Tibetan Plateau in the vicinity of Lake Mansarovar, the river runs a course through the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, towards Gilgit and Baltistan and then flows in a southerly direction along the entire length of Pakistan to merge into the Arabian Sea near the port city of Karachi in Sindh. You can't blame Musharraf for this,it has nothing to do with it,there was an entire team involved and the fact is we do have the the same Indus River that is flowing in both the countries,so use your common sense and your logic. On top of that if you really want to keep these shenanigans going then read Article 32 of the constitution. We have been trying to form peace amongst both countries, while keeping our dignity and santicity in place, there is nothing wrong in that. I have done plenty of research, maybe you should do your revision and check everything. I knew alot about sir Musharraf before google,so you don't need to question my mind. When one does more for the sake of the nation and for the national interest of the country,he is always criticised.

Article 32 also clearly mentions the Indus Water Treaty "India can use the water of Pakistani rivers in times of need."
