The central leadership of the Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) on Monday strongly rejected the intended restoration of NATO supply, threatened that by doing so, the DPC will take the people to the streets to resist this “unwise decision”, saying instead of parliament, this sensitive decision should be made through referendum, whether to resume the suspended NATO supply or not.
“The incumbent rulers have ruined the economic position, and weakened the defence of the country through their immature policies,” DPC Chairman Samiul Haq said while addressing a meeting of the council at a local hotel in Peshawar. In the meeting the intended decisions of parliament regarding the restoration of NATO supply route and Pak-US relations were discussed.
In the declaration of the meeting, they said wrong decisions of the government have paved way for separation movements and rebellions in Balochistan. Haq said like in the past the DPC will stand like a mountain to defend the national interest. He added that through a letter he had also appealed to the members of parliament to give their say in accordance with the aspirations and sentiments of the nation instead of violating their oath by taking any decision on the instigation of the US puppet rulers.
“If the members of parliament gave the decision to restore NATO supply route, the DPC will take the masses to besiege the houses of the parliamentarians and will not leave them unhurt,” he threatened. He said the DPC was of the view that the sensitive matter was not the jurisdiction of parliament, and proposed that the matter should be resolved through referendum.
“If the reservations of the DPC were not removed even now, and importance was not given to the proposal of the DPC for referendum, a national crisis will be created,” Haq warned. “We want to expose the incumbent rulers, allies of the US. And the DPC has also decided to fully support the right of independence of the Kashmiri people,” he said and announced that the DPC would also hold a gathering in Muzafarabad. He also announced holding a DPC Conference in Peshawar on April 15, and in Quetta on April 26.
