Two ‘extortionists’ arrested

Two suspected extortionists have been arrested from the Federal B area, police said on Saturday. Identified them as Hassan and Munir, the police said the arrests were made in a joint operation of the District Central Police and CPLC Central on the complaint of a poultry farm owner. The owner of the farm lodged a complaint with the Gulberg police station, saying that some extortionists had demanded Rs 1 million from him. The police said the extortionists had fired gunshots in the front of poultry farm to intimidate the owner, who later agreed to pay them Rs 250,000. The joint team of the CPLC and the District Central Police arrested the extortionist, who had arrived from North Nazimabad to collect the money. During interrogation, the arrested men revealed that their accomplices had delivered the extortion slip at the poultry farm.
