Civil and military leadership discusses national security

The government has decided that all the resolutions of parliament regarding the country’s defence will be put on priority and no pressure would be accepted in this regard. This was decided in a meeting held at the Presidency on Saturday, which was jointly presided over by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.
The top military and political leadership attended the meting including Senior Minster Pervez Elahi, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Farooq Sattar, Asfandyar Wali Khan, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Israrullah Zehri, Munir Khan Orakzai, Mushahid Hussain, Afrasiyab Khattak, Engineer Shaukat Ullah, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Kayani, Chief of Air Staff Marshal Rao Qamar Sulman, DG ISI Lt Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha and Secretary General to President Sulman Farooqi. According to president’s spokesman Farhatullah Babar, the meeting was the continuity of the meeting that was held on March14. The meeting took review of the issues relating to national security and foreign policy.
