The authorities concerned of Rawalpindi district government have been directed to finish the larva siding campaign up to March 31 and start spray against dengue virus from April 1, so that the dengue mosquitoes could not flourish. Acting Commissioner/DCO Rawalpindi, Saqib Zafar has directed the Health Department of City District Government and Municipal Administration authorities that the task must be completed within stipulated timeframe. He further said that all the graveyards, ponds and public places should properly be covered in the campaign. The ongoing campaign against the tyre shops should also be accelerated.
Private and cooperative housing societies as well as private schools administrations should be served with notices to arrange the fogging spray with their own resources, he added. He said during a meeting held here to review the progress of arrangements of anti dengue campaign. EDO Health Dr. Zafar Iqbal Gondal, DO Health Dr. Khalid Randhawa and Incharge Anti Dengue Campaign Dr. Ansar Ishaq while giving briefing said that in the district in larva siding campaign, 99,000 and 700 houses were checked out of which in 71 houses dengue larvae presence were found where spray of granules had been conducted. In 13 union councils of Potohar Town, this campaign had been completed while in remaining UCs this campaign was going on and would be completed up to the end of this month.
In Rawal town, 273 tyre shops were checked and the open tyres had been shifted inside the shops. Similarly, 172 hotels and restaurants were checked and they served warning notices that kitchens should be made clean and accumulated water should be drained out.
MD, PHA Capt. Muhstaq Ahmed informed the meeting that in the public parks of Rawalpindi city, the larva siding campaign was being completed. He informed that PHA staff had been provided special uniform for this campaign and the spray campaign would be started from 1st April. The DCO also directed the Health Department of City District Government to focus godowns of Food department.
Birthday centenary
celebrations of Bohra leader on 28th: Imam Hussain Council will celebrate the birthday centenary celebrations of the leader of Dawoodi Bohra community Syedana Burhanuddin at Islamabad Club on March 28. A conference has been organized to pay tributes to the spiritual leader of Dawoodi Community. Over 500 personalities including Ulema, Mashaikh, intellectuals and Parliamentarians are likely to attend the celebrations. Muhammad Burhanuddin, born in Indian city Surat on March 6, 1915, is the 52nd Dai or the representative of the Shia Ismaili Imam.
