“Ecstatic…got the offer from Microsoft! All by grace of Allah and sacrifices of my great parents,” Muhammad Abdur Rauf, a senior Computer Science (CS) student at the Lahore University of Management Sciences’ School of Science and Engineering (SSE), updated his Facebook status after he received a job offer from Microsoft before graduation. He will join from Fall 2012. Rauf applied for the post through Microsoft’s website and was interviewed over the phone. He then travelled to Dubai where he gave four rigorous technical interviews after which he was offered the post of a Software Development Engineer by Microsoft. Rauf was admitted to LUMS as a National Outreach Programme (NOP) scholar in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences but after a year when the time came to choose a major Rauf realised that he wanted to do Computer Science.
