Bangladesh HC celebrates 92nd birth anniversary

Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad celebrated here on Sunday 92nd birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh Bagabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman amid huge jubilation and gaiety.
The say was also observed as National Children’s Day in Bangladesh and all educational institutions across the country organised a number of colourful events to mark the day.
The Bangladeshi children of the officers and officials of the mission participated in poetry recitation on Bangabandhu. Children of different ages recited Bangla poetry devoted to their great leader. The children decorated their faces with paper-masks of butterfly and colourful caps carrying balloons of varied colours.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan Suhrab Hossain addressed on the occasion. He highlighted the contributions of Bangabandhu in building Bangladesh as a wealthy abode for the posterity. Suhrab Hossain urged the Bangladeshi children to study the life and works of their great leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and build their career as a worthy citizen of Bangladesh. He prayed for the salvation of the departed soul of Bangabandhu.
The High Commissioner cut a cake with a group of Bangladeshi children to mark the 92nd birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Later, a documentary on Immortal Bangabandhu was screened. Officers and officials along with their family members of the Mission and expatriate Bangladeshis attended the programme.
An exhibition of photographs and publication on Bangabandhu was also held on the occasion.
Sheikh Mujib was born this day at Tungipara in Gopalganj in 1920. He was the third among six children of Sheikh Lutfar Rahman and Saima Begum.
He grew into a natural leader and guided the Bengalees through a struggle for freedom from oppressive Pakistani rulers. Later, he became the first president of the independent Bangladesh.
