All colleges in the private and public sectors and the higher secondary schools that were given the status of a college have been asked to submit detailed documentation to the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) by March 31 so that a certificate of affiliation can be issued to them. The issue came under discussion at a meeting of the affiliation committee on Friday chaired by the BIEK chairman. The BIEK chairman said at present, the number of private and government sector higher secondary schools is 316 including four new government-owned ones and 14 newly registered private institutions. The registration of these institutions has expired this year. He said 29 private and 70 government colleges have not completed formalities for the affiliation and are required to submit missing primary details. The heads of these institutions have been informed and asked to submit the details for the issuance of affiliation certificate as in case of failure, candidates appearing in exams from these institutions are likely to suffer. The college administrations do not need to visit BIEK and instead can post their details on e-mail so that their cases of affiliation are processed and decided, the board announced.
