A panorama of city scenes from old areas of Lahore and various worth-seeing landscapes became cynosure of the visitors in a painting exhibition held at Royaat Gallery here on Friday. A painting exhibition “A Nature’s Palette” by Shehla Farooq hailed to realistic school that showed the skill of the painter over capturing the interplay of light and color amidst the scenery of Punjab.
Talking to Pakistan Today, Shehla Farooq said she focused on cityscapes, moving towards mineralization by incorporating pigeons. She said that she explored life in the old city, a location that was forgotten, through her paintings.
“To paint on location while experiencing the environment is a unique experience incomparable to studio painting,” adding she said she painted all natural sceneries often on location.
She said that she was painting traditional landscapes for the past three decades. She said her second motif was of pigeons nestled within the old city and these wonderful paintings evoke the nostalgia of Lahore’s old nooks and crannies.
These paintings, both sumptuous and delicate, capture wonderful movement through defined brush strokes. The landscapes depict the misty, wind-swept plains that are transformed by nature’s first green.
These regenerated arbors almost seem to dance in the sun, celebrating the vibrant color of nature’s spring palette. Talking to Pakistan Today, Mrs Faryal Arif Latif said Royaat Gallery is committed to raising awareness of Lahore’s cultural legacy. She said they encouraged new artists to exhibit their works in their art gallery.
