Over 50% teachers of the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) have enhanced their qualification by getting PhD degree during their service in the recent years.
These degrees were received from home and abroad, which contributed a lot to improvement of educational standard of AIOU, said Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nazir Ahmed Sangi, while addressing the annual dinner ceremony of the Academic Staff Association on Friday.
The ceremony was largely attended by the officers and academic staff of the university. Dr. Sangi said the university was paying special focus on the education of those students who were living in the far-flung areas and belonged to deprived section of the society.
He said the teachers’ role had become more productive due to recently introduced E-Learning and Video-Conferencing System through which they were reaching the doorsteps of the students. Dr Iqbal Shah and Zahid Majeed, president and general secretary of the association, respectively, spoke about the academic achievements and the role of the AIOU in expanding educational network all over the country.
They said the academic staff of the university had been rendering their services with utmost professional commitment to provide quality education to their students in different disciplines.
