SC reserves verdict on PSM corruption case

The Supreme Court on Thursday reserved its verdict on the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) case while observing that a forensic report had found “massive corruption” in the entity. A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Tariq Parvez reserved its verdict on the suo motu case. A report submitted earlier by the PSM’s counsel established that the national entity suffered a massive loss of Rs 26.5 million during 2008-09.
During the proceedings, Ministry of Industries and Production Secretary Gul Muhammad Rind appeared and stated that the government was considering sending the issue to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for further investigation after getting the opinion of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
