Amir Aftab Malik, a local jeweller and son-in-law of former Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee chairman Lt Gen Tariq Majeed, was recovered by the law enforcement agencies on Thursday. Malik, 35, a jeweller and the president of Barkat Market Traders Union in Garden Town, was kidnapped by some terror suspects on August 25 last from his Faisal Town residence. The kidnappers, wielding Kalashnikovs, had posed in a video with Malik and had asked for Rs 130 million in ransom and had demanded the release of 153 militants being held in various prisons across Pakistan. According the tape he was in the custody of Tehreek-e-Taliban. Sources said Malik had been recovered after talks between the militants and the officials of law enforcement agencies from North Waziristan and would reach his house in the next 48 hours. Aftab Malik, father of the victim, said he was not aware if ransom had been paid or not. Investigation SSP Abdul Razzaq Cheema said details would be revealed after through investigation.
