Terming her support for former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf as a political blunder, PML-N leader Marvi Memon said on Wednesday that she would contest the next general elections. Marvi was once a very close supporter of Musharraf and even used his posters to run the PML-Q’s election campaign in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections 2009 due to which she was scolded by her party high-ups.
Addressing the Karachi Bar Association, Marvi said that she would not return to the present National Assembly. She said that all political leaderships, including old and new, had been nurtured under dictatorship. “Had it been for power, I would not have resigned from parliament,” she added. Marvi said that the efforts of lawyers aimed at establishing justice and rule of law in Pakistan.
