Salary of suspended officials cannot be stopped: LHC

The Lahore High Court on Wednesday stated that payment of pending salary of a government official can not be stopped on any pretext even when they are suspended from service.
Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan passed the order while hearing a petition filed by Shamim Shabbir, headmistress at Government Girls Elementary Jamia madina, Okara, who challenged her suspension and stoppage of salary on directions from Executive District Officer (EDO). Shamim said the EDO suspended her without pay because of a personal grudge. The headmistress said she had not received her salary for the last six months nor had she been restored into service. The court ordered the EDO to clear the salary of the teacher within 10 days otherwise it would be collected from his pocket as punishment for his illegal step against the headmistress.
