Russell Brand: ‘Threw photographer’s phone to honour Steve Job’s memory’

An arrest warrant for simple criminal damage to property was issued for Russell Brand by police in relation to an alleged incident with a paparazzo. According to a TMZ report, Brand purportedly snatched a paparazzo’s cell phone from his car when the man began to film him and threw the phone through the window of a nearby building on Monday night.
US reports state Brand is wanted by New Orleans police after the 36-year-old apparently lost his temper when he saw a photographer taking photos of him on his iPhone. Russell had been driving with his girlfriend Oriela Medellin when he saw the secret snaps being taken. He is said to have jumped out of his car, snatched the paparazzo’s mobile phone from his hand and then threw it through a law firm’s window, smashing it. However, Brand has since made light of the incident, claiming the angry act was done as ‘a tribute’ to the late Apple boss Steve Jobs. Brand has yet to make an official statement regarding the incident but made reference to it in a comedic tone on Twitter, writing, “Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory.”
