Irum Bukhari, a DMG Group officer of BS-20, has assumed the charge of the first secretary of the newly-created Government of Punjab Women Development Department which is now up and running. Irum, while presiding over a high level meeting on Tuesday, said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who previously announced a comprehensive package of women empowerment on International Women’s Day, had constituted a monitoring committee under his chairmanship to review implementation status of WEP 2012. The members of Senate, National and provincial assemblies as well as senior officers of Punjab government would be the members of the committee. She affirmed her faith in the new department and resolved to ensure active participation of women on equal terms in all spheres of social, political and economic life in the province.
