Govt takes decisions to combat terrorism, other heinous crimes

To combat terrorism and other heinous crimes prevalent in the society, the government on Tuesday took major decisions that included revisit of the status of proscribed organizations and urgently provide modern equipment to all provinces so as to be used as investigator tools in incidents of terrorism, kidnapping for ransom, mobile/vehicle snatching, etc.
The status of proscribed organizations would be revisited to explore the possibility of bringing them in the mainstream.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik presided over a high-level meeting in the Ministry of Interior in which all the IGPs of police briefed him about the present day law and order situation.
The IGPs briefed the interior minister about the problems being faced by them in absence of modern technology to be used in the investigation of various crimes.
It was decided in the meeting that summary would be sent to the prime minister requesting him to urgently provide Geo locators and other technological equipment to all the provinces to be used in investigation related to crimes as terrorism, kidnapping for ransom, mobile/vehicle snatching and demand for ransom, etc.
To increase the strength of police, the meeting decided that ex-servicemen would be recruited.

  1. No one is Pakistan is safe unless the production of improvised explosive devices is not put to an end.

  2. Improvised explosive devices or the “desi bombs” are extremely dangerous because they are easy to produce. What can be done to stop its production?

  3. With the invent of Improvised explosive devices, the rate of terrorism is expected to increase in the times ahead.

  4. The robotic technology, that is to be provided to Pakistan by EU in coming weeks is definitely going to help us in minimizing the terrorism and the use of improvised explosive devices.
