Colony Sugar and Guard Group/Wi Tribe have opening day honours as the Zong Challenge Polo Cup 2012 saddled into action here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Tuesday.
Fresh from its back to back title wins, Colony Sugar thrashed Diamond Paints 8-3.
Colony Sugar, first won the Punjab Cup and then lifted the National Championship trophy and kept its winning spree to leave Diamond Paints, who were enjoying two goals advantage, helpless.
Saqib Khan Khakwani knocked of six goals with two in the frist and third chukkers while one each in the second and third while Sameer Habib Oberoi and Mian Hussain Iftikhar added one goal each in the first and third quarters. On the other hand Mir Shoaib Ahmad of the losing side scored the only goal of his team to start the fourth chukker.
Meanwhile in the other match, Guard Group/Wi Tribe trampled Karachi Polo Teamfor a big 7-1 win.
Taimur Ali Malik and Raja Samiullah shared the win run with four and three goals respectively while Omar Asjad Malhi was the lone scorer of the Karachi team.
