CDA vows to resolve workers’ issues

The government is committed to developing the federal capital on the lines of the experiences and success stories of the modern metropolitans of the world. This was stated on Tuesday by Prime Minister’s Task Force on Islamabad Chairman Faisal Sakhi Butt while addressing a reception organised by the CDA Mazdoor Union at the Convention Centre in honour of CDA Chairman Farkhand Iqbal. He said Islamabad will provide quality civic facilities with the collaborative efforts of the CDA workers. He added that more work was needed to bring the city at par with the modern capitals of the world. He stated that the Prime Minister had appointed the task force to reinforce the efforts of the CDA. Sakhi Butt said he and the CDA Chairman had learned a lot from the administrators of the municipalities in Turkey and that their experiences would be considered while developing strategies for providing civic amenities effectively. He added that a result-oriented approach will be adopted for the execution of the development projects. He said the Mayor of Ankara had appreciated the concept of involving the residents of Islamabad in the decision-making process for executing development projects. The chairman said the government is committed to the welfare of the workers. He added that he would ask the CDA chairman to complete the recruitment for the Sanitation Directorate on merit and observe the quota outlined in the government policy. He said the problems that aggravated during the previous regimes could not be resolved in a short while and that the present government will streamline the system. Farkhand Iqbal said a strategy is being evolved for isolating a sustainable source of income for the authority. He stated that the workers will be given the facilities and allowances that is their due. He added that the present administration is committed to restarting work on the projects stalled. He said the workers should support the administration in resolving the outstanding issues and assured that their demands for the allotment of plots would also be met promptly. He stated that the CDA task force is giving in suggestions for the development and proper maintenance of the city.
