Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah paid them a surprise visit to the New Sindh Secretariat and the Sindh Secretariat Tughlaq House on Monday but ended up being unpleasantly surprised himself after discovering that almost all government officers except for the lower staff were absent.
He was accompanied by Political Coordinator Siddique Abu Bhai and his office team.
The chief minister visited all floors of both the two secretariat buildings and visited every office.
According to an official statement, he was surprised to note that all department heads, secretaries, special secretaries except for one, additional secretaries, deputy secretaries and section officers were absent.
The chief minister was also surprised that many offices were either locked or some of them were only manned by naib qasids, chowkidars or clerks.
He inquired from the available staff about the arrival timings of the secretariat officers and staff, and expressed displeasure over “such careless, negligence and violation of punctuality”.
He directed the chief secretary to take strict action against latecomers and also take measures to ensure observance of punctuality and availability of officers and staff at the secretariat buildings.
