The Supreme Court (SC) was presented a report by the Pakistan Steel Mills’ attorney Fakharuddin ji Ibrahim that disclosed that the Pakistan Steel Mills has borne a loss of 26.5 billion rupees so far.
According to a private television channel, a three-member bench chaired by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Choudhry heard the case.
Ibrahim presented a forensic audit report to the apex court.
According to the report, the mill bears a daily loss of Rs 40 million which accumulates to more than a Rs one-billion monthly loss.
The attorney also claimed that the officials who were involved in the corruption have been released on bail and the former chairman of the mill has never been detained.
Ibrahim also suggested that the case should be forwarded to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to which the Chief Justice agreed.
The Chief justice adjourned the hearing till the March 15.
