University of Balochistan’s abducted professor gets home safe

Professor Dost Mohammad Tareen of University of Balochistan reached home safely in Quetta on Sunday, as while trader got kidnapped in Khuzdar, 360kms southeast of Quetta. Prof Dost Mohammad Tareen, a professor in the Department of Education of the University of Balochistan was kidnapped on March 5 from Satellite Town of Quetta. His relatives confirmed the news, however, they refused to comment whether they paid ransom for his release or if the kidnappers had released him on their own. The Academic Staff Association (ASA) of Balochistan University had strongly protested the kidnapping of Tareen and had warned of besieging the Governor’s House on March 14 if the administration failed to recover the professor. ASA President Kaleemullah Barech said Tareen’s recovery became possible due to massive protests by varsity teachers.
Meanwhile in Khuzdar, Abdul Ghaffar, a local trader, was on his way when unidentified armed men intercepted him at Kattan area and took him away at gunpoint. On receiving information, police rushed to the site and started a search operation in the area to recover the trader. Police suspect the incident could be a case of kidnapping for ransom, however, no group had demanded ransom for his release as yet. Police have registered a case and stared investigation.
