Former Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Asma Jahangir on Sunday said Asghar Khan’s case about the distribution of money among the politicians unveiled that political parties were under the yoke and control of spy agencies who were funding the politicians. Talking to reporters at a marriage ceremony here, Asma said the Judicial Commission for appointment of judges is mere a rubber stamp where only one or two judges have the right to say and approve appointment of new judges.
“The newly-appointed female judge belongs to the chamber of judges,” Asma said, adding that members of the bar were now fed up with the new appointments by the Judicial Commission. Commenting on the appointment of judges by the Judicial Commission, Asma said the Parliamentary Committee for Judges’ Appointment also had limited powers in this regard.
