Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan along with hundreds of people staged a sit-in and held a demonstration at Allama Iqbal Chowk on Sunday, as a protest against the alleged political target killing of an innocent child by the local influential, allegedly supported by the PML-N. Hundreds of PPP activists and local MPA Tahir Mehmood Hundali also participated in the anti-Sialkot Police protest. They placed the innocent child’s body there and kept the traffic blocked on various inter-city roads for about four consecutive hours by burning the tyres.
Talking to reporters at the protest site, Firdous strongly lashed out at the Sialkot Police and the PML-N, alleging that Sialkot had become a police state and police had made Sialkot as a “political wing of the PML-N”, she said. She said lawlessness was on its peak in Sialkot due to the alleged support of local criminals by the local leadership of the PML-N. She said Sialkot had become a police state and the police had made it a “political wing of the PML-N”. “Everyone is terrified and now unsafe in Sialkot, as the life and property of the locals were at stake, due to the alleged political support of the PML-N to the Sialkot police in this regard.” She asked Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to come to Sialkot and provide justice to the grieved family.
