Due to financial crunch faced by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), many water filtration plants at various locations of the federal capital are not functional.
Water filtration plants are reported dysfunctional at various locations which were meant to provide pure drinking water to the dwellers of the federal capital.
The citizens talking to INP complained that the expired water filters are not changed in time, adding that water taps at the filtration plant are missing but the concerned authorities are not paying due attention to the matter of public importance.
Sources said that CDA has made payment to the firm which carries out operation and maintenance of the filtration plants for last eight months.
CDA has given all the water filtration plants on contract but after six months the contract was neither extended nor has CDA re-tendered the contract.
On the other hand, the contractor has expressed concerns over the non payment of salaries for six months.
The citizens demanded CDA to pay due attention to the project of public importance in order to ensure supply of clean drinking water to them.
