‘Just because we’re blind, it doesn’t mean we don’t need laptops!’

Blind students of the Punjab University on Sunday demanded the Punjab CM allocate at least a 10 percent quota for special children especially blind students of public sector varsities on the same terms and conditions on which 150,000 laptops would be given to brilliant students across the province. Blind students Nadeem Malik, Shamsul Zia, Sarfraz Ahmed, Qaisar, Shahzad Gulnar and several others, appreciating the decision to distribute 150,000 laptops among outstanding students told APP, “We need special attention of the CM that a 10 percent quota on the same terms and conditions be reserved for blind students”.
Nadeem said that blind people the world over were contributing to national development and even playing their vital role in space science. He challenged that blind students in Pakistan could compete with all foreign blind students
provided the same environment was available to them. Nadeem said that blind students were studying in different departments of Punjab University and VC Dr Mujahid Kamran was extending all possible assistance and cooperation to make their stay comfortable during studies and all their genuine grievances were redressed on the spot. They hoped the CM would consider their genuine demand and issue orders in this regard.
