Over 10 killed as blast hits funeral prayer near Peshawar

At least 10 people were killed and more than 30 other injured when a blast hit funeral prayer near Peshawar, police said Sunday.
Police said the explosion occurred when people were offering funeral prayers at Meera area near Badbair.
Badbair is a small town connecting the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa capital to tribal agencies. The town is often targeted by the militants loyal to Taliban and Al Qaida in the past.
Deputy Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Khushdil Khan also attended the prayers and left the spot minutes before the blast.
On receiving the information rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted all the injured to the nearby hospital.
People shifted the victims to nearby hospitals and Lady Reading hospital in private vehicles, police sources said.
More than a dozen injured were rushed to Lady Reading hospital where emergency was declared.
The area has been cordoned off by the police. Police and bomb disposal squad were investigating nature of the blast.
Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area and launched searched operation.
