Multan win Sports Festival cricket title

Multan outplayed SJAL in the Punjab Sports Festival Cricket final here at the LCCA ground to lift the trophy here at LCCA ground on Friday.
In the press clubs cricket final, Multan took on Sports Journalists Association of Lahore and batting first Multan scored 159 for one wicket. SJAL on the other hand could only manage 64 runs for six wickets. DG Sports Usman Anwar was the chief guest on this occasion and gave the prizes to the participants.
In the bar associations cricket final match, Gujranwala bar defeated Multan bar by 24 runs. Ijaz Basra was the chief guest. In the special persons cricket final, Bahawalpur beat Faisalabad by seven wickets. Faisalabad won the toss and decided to bat first. On the loss of three wickets, Faisalabad scored 209. Rashid was declared the best scorer with 87 runs and Tayab made 45. Bahawalpur in reply scored 210 at three wickets. Mohammad Ayaz scored the highest of 60 runs while Zohaib got 54. Meanwhile, Sports Board Punjab has decided the date of the last event of Punjab Sports Festival 2012 cycling which will be held at March 17. The closing ceremony will be organized on the same day whereas the venue and the time will be announced later on.
