Hajra Mansoor’s solo show put on display: Established women artist and modern oriental romanticist, Hajra Mansoor displayed her recent collection of paintings here Friday at Jharoka art gallery. The solo show portray the blend of eastern and the modern trends as every element of her painting evokes the touch of eastern richness in full manner while sustaining the water colour fixed wash technique locked between various complications of modern art elements.
This style proves her rarity and individuality and is the reason behind her acclaim in Pakistan and abroad, said Naheeda Raza, curator of the gallery. Hajra’s attempt at painting was a memory composition of a dancing figure in water colors. The versatility of Hajra’s artistic caliber can be judged from her exquisite sense of accuracy. The collection of 36 art pieces has been created with the medium of water-color-wash, acrylic and brush drawing. She reserves rareness for her venture into the new world of modern innovation in oriental school. The compromised appearance of traditional elements in oriental painting seems to be transformed into the creative activity of sophistication, which proves her acceptance of challenges in modern movement of art today.
The exquisite integration in total organization in painting, the romantic school in structural transformation, selection of colour with exciting surface activity and the breathtaking sensitivity of iconographical linear quality, all these are Hajra Mansoor’s elements which are carefully controlled within highly disciplined technique of fixed wash. Her work has been exhibited in galleries of Germany and France where she was highly admired by the critical circle of famous artists. The exhibition will continue till March 20.
‘Excessive mobile use affects sleep’: Teenagers who excessively use their cell phones are more prone to disrupted sleep, restlessness, stress and fatigue, according to a research. The study, authored by Gaby Badre, MD, PhD, of Sahlgren’s Academy in Gothenburg, Sweden, focused on 21 healthy subjects, between 14-20 years of age, with regular working/studying hours and without sleep problems, Health news reported. The subjects were broken up into two groups: a control group (three men, seven women) and the experimental group (three men, eight women). The control group made less than five calls or sent five text messages a day, while the experimental group made more than 15 calls and sent 15 text messages a day. The subjects were then asked questions regarding their lifestyle and sleep habits.
