‘English medium schools in all talukas soon’

English medium schools will be set up soon in each taluka of Sindh under a pilot project to improve the educational standard of the government sector schools and to compete with the private sector, provincial Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq said on Saturday.
Presiding over a meeting at his office, the minister directed the provincial education secretary to undertake all out efforts to make the project a success.
“All available resources should be used in order to facilitate the students of primary schools,” he added.
Mazhar said it is a fact that all higher and professional education was in English and unless the students of government schools learn English in primary classes, they might be unable to feel comfortable in higher classes.
He directed the officials of the Education Department to depute the best teachers of taluka to these English medium schools.
Haq said education is the fundamental right of the people and the provincial government is trying to provide universal education to all students in Sindh.
He said no doubt there are certain hurdles, but with firm determination and political will, the desired goals will be achieved.
He hoped that the establishment of English medium schools in talukas would help motivate the parents to send their children to government schools.
Mazhar said the students of government schools are second to none in talents and they should be given proper environment and facilities to show their talent.
