Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Raja Riaz on Friday asked Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif to take an oath on the Holy Quran in the Punjab Assembly if he denies the allegations of taking bribe from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Talking to reporters in front of Punjab Assembly, Raja Riaz said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) from the day first was saying that Sharif brothers started their political career in the lap of dictators and doing
their politics from the same place. He said that every claim of PPP was proving to be true after the hearing of Mehrangate scandal by the apex court.
“Sharif brothers left the country by entering an agreement with dictator Musharraf but both were denying the same and now if they want to prove their innocence in Mehrangate scandal then Shahbaz Sharif must come to the Punjab Assembly and should prove their innocence by taking oath on the Holy Quran,”Raja Riaz said, adding that oath on the Holy Quran was necessary because “we can’t believe in what they were saying”.
Raja Riaz said that Javed Hashmi and Ishaq Dar asked Sharif brothers to seek pardon from the nation over the leaving of country by making truce with a dictator and now PPP was asking Sharif brothers to seek apology from the nation for taking bribes from the intelligence agency, adding that if they failed to accept the PPP’s demand then someone from within the N-League would ask Sharif brothers to do the same.
Refusing to reply the question of Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah regarding the defeat of Aslam Gill in the Senate, Raja Riaz said that a high-level committee of the PPP was investigating he issue.
The opposition leader said that PPP was not demanding resignation from the chief minister despite allegation of taking bribes from the ISI were now obvious to all. The PPP leader said they want the continuation of the
N-League government in Punjab because the party would face more dents in future. “Shahbaz Sharif was making tall claims of honesty but the issue of taking bribes from ISI has nullified their claims for honesty,” he said.
Responding to a question of joining of the PPP by Fawad Chaudhry, Raja Riaz said that the PPP is like a sea where adding of drops make no difference.
