The government on Thursday decided to not hand over Dr Shakil Afridi to the US and to rather take action against him in Pakistan under the Frontier Crime Regulation (FRC). Well-placed sources told Online that Afridi identified the presence of Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad. After Bin Laden’s identification and operation of the US security forces in Abbottabad, there was a lot of pressure on Pakistan to hand him over to the US government. In reply, after a high-level meeting and consultation of the military and civil government officials, it was decided that Afridi would not be handed over to the US government rather Pakistan would take legal action against him under the FRC. The sources said in this regard the US officials offered attractive incentives. However, the government rejected the offer.
