Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani and newly elected senators from Balochistan called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e- Sadr here on Thursday.
Faryal Talpur was also present during the meeting.
The newly elected senator included Mr. Ali Madad Jattak, Nawabzada Saifullah Magsi, Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hasni, Mr. Rozi Khan kakar, Muhammad Yousaf Balooch and Mr. Sabir Baloch.
The President congratulated the newly elected senators from Balochistan and expressed the hope that they will work with full devotion for strengthening democracy and democratic institutions in the country by actively participating in the legislative business of the upper House of the Parliament.
He said that he was confident that the newly elected senators would play their active role for the welfare and development of their respective areas and also to safeguard the rights of the people of Balochistan.
Matters relating to developmental Projects, law and order and political situation in the province and the implementation status of Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package also came under discussion during the meeting.
The President reiterated commitment of the present government to the uplift of the province and expressed the hope that the mega development projects and other speedy measures under the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan’ package will help address grievances of Baloch people and bring Balochistan at par with other provinces in terms of socio- economic development.
The newly elected senators appreciated the leadership of the party and the government for strengthening democracy in the country and for the various steps being taken for redressal of grievances and removing the sense of deprivation of the people of Balochistan. The senators assured that they will dedicate their efforts to espouse the cause of democracy in the country besides safeguarding the rights of the people of Balochistan.
The Chief Minister also briefed the President on the status of Law and order situation and development projects in the province.
The President also assured full support of the federal government to the provincial government for maintenance of law and order. N
