An art exhibition to mark the International Women’s Day was inaugurated by Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri on Wednesday at the Alliance Française. The exhibition, organised by the New World Concepts and the Grandeur Art Gallery, features work of 12 senior female artists Riffat Alvi, Nahid Raza, Mehar Afroze, Hajra Mansur, Zahra David, Tabinda Chinoy, Naiza Khan, Durriya Kazi, Shami Ahmed, Shakira Masood, Rabia Zuberi and Mona Naqsh as well as six young female artists Shazia Qaiser, Sammer Sultan, Reem Khurshid, Marium Aga, Laiba Baig and Cyra Ali.
New World Concepts CEO Yasmin Hyder said the purpose of the exhibition of art pieces created by diverse women is to inspire, challenge and provoke thought. Grandeur Art Gallery curator Neshmia Ahmad said the exhibition highlights and connects the artworks of senior and young female artists. “These artworks celebrate the artistic grace of women through their paintings, sketches, sculpture and ceramics,” she said The exhibition will be open for public viewing on Thursday (today).
