Arrangements finalised for anti-polio drive: DC

Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed on Wednesday said the ICT administration, in collaboration with all related departments, had made comprehensive arrangements for the upcoming four-day anti-polio drive, beginning from March 12 in the rural and urban areas of the capital. He said 227,000 children would be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign. He added social mobilisation drive was also underway in the urban and rural areas to ensure active participation of notables of the areas as well as students, parents and teachers.
The DC said the ICT administration had requested parents to get their children vaccinated against polio and fully cooperate with the mobile teams. He disclosed that 322 mobile teams for rural and 528 for urban areas had been activated which would conduct door-to-door visits for vaccination. He added 12 zonal supervisors for the 12 union councils of Islamabad with the active participation of notables of the area and 55 area heads would monitor the performance of mobile teams, headed by the assistant commissioner (rural), assistant commissioner (Secretariat) and magistrates.
