President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday approved the appointment of Air Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt as chief of air staff, on advice of the prime minister.
An official handout quoted Presidential Spokesman Farhatullah Babar as saying that Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman was due to retire on March 18 on completion of his three-year tenure. Tahir would be granted the rank of Air Chief Marshal from the date he assumes charge of the appointment, he said.
