US Deputy Chief of Mission Richard Hoagland on Wednesday dispelled the impression of US threat of sanctions on Pakistan over the IP gas pipeline, saying the urge for gas was a legitimate demand of Pakistan and the US was ready to help the country. “The US has never threatened Pakistan with sanctions, Iran-Pakistan project is not a matter going to be implemented within a week or a month.
We are ready to work with Pakistan on different options to help,” he told reporters at the sideline of a roundtable discussion to commemorate “the services of women in law enforcement agencies”. Hoagland said General James Mattis, commander of US Central Command, and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani were in contact. However, he said no date has been finalised for General Mattis’ visit to Pakistan.
He said Ambassador Cameron Munter has not brought any message regarding NATO supplies from America.
